Explanatory notes
|
Due to the need for an 8pm finish, Events 31 and 32 will be run if time permits
ALL RESULTS WILL BE SEPARATED INTO THE FOLLOWING AGE GROUPS with medals awarded to
the top six finishers in both Novice and Squad in each age group (except 400m):- 8 years and under 2000 Born 1999 Born 1998 Born 1997 Born 1995/96 Born 1993/94 Born 17 and Over
Age are as at 31st Dec 2009. Two age groups for 400m: 1997 born and later, 1996 born and earlier | |

Novice |
This group comprises swimmers within the 2001 and under age group and those that
do not swim within a Club squad training session (i.e. Sunday to Friday mornings,
Wednesday evenings 7- |

Skins |
In this event the swimmers compete in a repeating one length freestyle race with one swimmer being eliminated in each round until there’s one winner. Very exciting! |
Entries
Please submit your entries on a standard Phoenix Gala Entry form. Entry fees are £1.50 per event. This charge covers the cost of trophies.

The background
Every year we hold an internal club championships for members of Phoenix Swimming
Club. These are held over two days and this year they will be on the evenings of
Friday 3rd and 10th July starting at 5pm both days and finishing by 8pm. For obvious
reasons there will be no lessons on these two dates and there are separate awards
made for squad and novice swimmers -

Results -
Phew...all done for another year. There were a total of 19 club championship records
broken during this years competition which is a measure of the excellent work our
swimmer shave been putting in over the last few months. Thanks you to all who helped
run this year’s championships and an especial thanks from me to our officials and
marshalls who kept things moving swiftly onwards during session two. It was a bit
disappointing not to have a working PA system for session two and we hope that didn’t
affect your enjoyment -
As indicated in the programme we were unable to fit in the ‘Skins’ event this year so anyone who entered this event can collect their refund from Sue Mullender (our gala secretary) at the club desk on Friday evenings.
The results from the two sessions are listed below.
There was a tie on points for both club champion awards (boys and girls) but after deploying the services of our finest rules specialist we finally identified the worthy winners. Congratulations therefore to Harvey Brown and Kate Pearse our 2009 Club Champions! Commiserations, but also congratulations to Michael Grace who after drawing on both points and number of records broken, missed out on the Boys Champion by a whisker.
