Essex Age Group (BAGCAT) Championships
Block A |
Essex Age Group Championships - The first set of Essex County Age Group events were held on the weekend of 23/24th Jan. Phoenix is sending it’s biggest ever team to this year’s championships and there was plenty of success over the first weekend. Unfortunately most of the events scheduled for the afternoon on day 2 had to be postponed for safety reasons due to a shortage of water in the pool (!) but these will be rescheduled into Blocks C and D which will be held in March. Twenty of the club’s swimmers competed in individuals events over the weekend plus others who competed as part of the relay teams. No less than seven Phoenix swimmers reached finals in one or more events. Special highlights Kate Pearse and Harvey Brown who both achieved 1st place results as well as other top 6 placings; Brooke Frost, Harvey Brown, Michael Grace and Patrick Rourke who finished with top 3 medals plus Masie West and James Barker who swam well to achieve 4th and 5th in their respective finals. In the last published results Phoenix were in overall ninth place in the club points table which is an outstanding start! Well done all.
