Welcome to the web site for the Phoenix Swimming club (Basildon). As is recognised
by our Gold ClubSX award, we are a very friendly and professionally run swimming
club based in Essex which provides quality swim teaching and coaching for swimmers
of all standards from novice to County/Regional standard - covering a wide age spectrum
from the very young to masters.
We draw our membership not just from Basildon, but Billericay, Wickford, Corringham
and beyond, and we train at a number of swimming pools in the local area. Browse

Congratulations to Michael Grace who has been selected
to represent Essex at the forthcoming Regional InterCounties Gala. Obtaining a County
Cap is a huge achievement and a just reward for the hard work that Michael has put
in. - Teacher/Coach Qualifications - 15th May
Big congratulations to Henry Wood and Marc
Butcher who have both recently passed ASA/UKCC Level One qualifications. Henry has
passed in Teaching Aquatics, and Marc in Coaching Swimming. These qualifications
involved both classroom training and practical work so please congratulate them for
their achievement. - Adventure Island ticket offer - 9th May
We are now taking orders for discounted wristbands
to Adventure Island fun park in Southend. These are available at around half normal
price (£11-Big, £7.50 Junior) and profits from this offer will go towards the October

- Crawley Oversubscribed - 4th April
We have received notification that over 2/3rds
of the entries for the Crawley gala have been rejected due to it being massively
oversubscribed. Phoenix entries were similarly affected. See Jon for details or
check the Crawley SC website. - Essex League Selection - 2nd April

Rochford’s pool (Clements Hall) and warm-up starts at 6:30pm. - Essex County Block ‘D’ Results - 31st March
More medals for Phoenix at the last set
of County Age Group Championships, including one more County title and a national
qualifying time for Kathryn Pearse! Congratulations go to Kathryn, Sidney, Michael

This gala is now licensed level 4 and
has upper limits set 3-4 sec faster than 2008 Essex county times. ALL club competitive
swimmers are requested to enter this gala. Details are on the Planned Galas page.
- Support the Basildon Sporting Village - 15th March
The outline planning application
for the Basildon Sporting Village goes for approval in April. This initiative will
deliver a 50m pool and improved facilities for our club. Please help by submitting

An excellent weekend at the counties with
all swimmers attaining personal best times. Congratulations to Michael Grace (1
silver, 1 bronze) and Kathryn Pearse (1 silver & 2 bronze). See Phoenix County Block

A solid 4th place result in the third
round Division One clash leaves Phoenix well placed to retain their place in the
top division with just one round left. Overall results & times on the Gala Results

Well done to Kate Pearse on another Silver, this time
in the 100m Fly, also to Harvey Brown for achieving his regional time in the 200m

the 11yrs 50m Backstroke title, Harvey Brown for 2nd place in the 10yrs 50m Freestyle,
